One style of dance has become very well loved in the UK and that is the street dance. Over the years, many forms of dance have had their moments in the sun and it is now the turn of the street dance.

But what is it and why are they so well loved in London that people hope to learn something from them?

Well, the scene in London is really different as compared to other countries as you can learn not only learn a specific style of dance but also pick up “street dances” that is a combination of many styles like hip hop, locking, jazz. It can also include certain acrobatic movements associated with certain dance troupes and all of these can mesh into the dances that are taught in London.

So an average learner has a lot of choice that he can choose from, when he decides to look for learning opportunities in London. He can choose to learn a specific style or choose to learn the general routine that is a mixture and fusion of many different styles.

The term “street dance”, is an all encompassing term referring to many styles and even including styles like breaking and crip walking, which normally others would not consider. When somebody advertises ‘street dance classes’, you would expect that they are referring to hip-hop with some elements of other styles thrown in. The music need not be always hip-hop and the thought is to engage and introduce the learners to various other styles of dancing such as ‘street jazz’ and even ‘street urban’.

It is thus useful to find out the style that a particular dance class is advertising about before you enroll into it. By doing this preliminary investigation and enquiry, you may even find that you might start to delight in styles that you had never known about and are worth exploring.
