One dance more associated with urban life, but ethnic in its origin and gaining tremendous popularity is the hip hop dance. It made its bow in the early 1900s when New York youth took it to the streets and made it very well-known.
You can express your creativity with hip hop dance. This is a dance that does not prescribe very specific movements that have to be necessarily followed and permits the individual to add his flair to it. Your body movements only need to complement the beat of the music and you can add power and vigorous movement to it through your own creative inputs. So, jumps, twists and a lot of free movement can be adequately introduced in hip hop by the performer.
This form of dancing is a brilliant physical activity for those wishing to improve their flexibility, balance of body and muscle coordination. Dancers have often said that they experience a feeling of deep spiritual bliss.
There are many steps and hand movements that make up hip hop dancing which are different from those found in ballroom or ballet form of dancing.
Those forms are more technical and require specific movements that can be achieved only through formal training and practice. Some of the movements have specific names assigned to them in these kinds of formal dancing forms.
Hip hop, though accords total freedom to the individual and there is no restriction and that is one of the main reasons as to why it is gaining in popularity every day. People do not want to be restricted or limited to technical jargon and wish to dance with gay abandon. Once they are familiar with the basic rhythm, hip hop dancing comes easily to many people.
Since this form of dance is nearly freestyle, so to speak, there are no age barriers and you do not require formal instructors to teach you this form of dance. That is one of its fantastic advantages and clarifies its simple acceptability amongst people.

I reckon the reason that hip hop dancing is well loved is because it is cool to watch. It takes a lot of talent and some of the moves are harder to do than it seems.
