It is normal human behavior to have some expectations from any coaching class and when somebody joins a street dancing class, he should be prepared and expect certain things from the environment, the fellow learners and the tutor.
Let us look at some of them as under:
a) Some of your colleagues will be brilliant
In the beginning; you will feel that some of your fellow learners are very brilliant and able to pick up things pretty easily. The reason is that you are slow to get used to the different routine and as a relative comparison; the others seem to fare better. With time, you will find that you too are able to do the moves that initially seemed very hard.
b) Your fellow learners will appear better dressed and to the occasion.
You will find some of the people dressed very appropriately in street style and though that does not mean you are inappropriately dressed in your normal dress. You just have to be prepared mentally to learn this when you start attending the classes. But, what is vital is that you need to be dressed in clothing that does not hinder movement and is comfortable for dancing.
c) Routine will get accelerated as you go along.
You will often find that there is a period when things just meander along and the tutor waits for everybody to get a grip on things. It is at this time that you should practice and concentrate adequately so that when your tutor decides to speed up things, you are well prepared and do not have to do any catching up.
d) Do not reckon that you can get it right the first time
You must be patient and should not place undue stress on your self to pick up things perfectly at the very first instance. It is only through regular practice that you will start to dance well and delight in the experience.
e) Try to delight in the experience
It is vital to relax to be able to absorb the learning and that will eventually show in your performance. You will start to delight in dancing and that is the sign of brilliant dancers.
